Worship is not about styles, such as “traditional”
or “contemporary” or “praise”. Worship is about taking the opportunity to express
our adoration for our great God and Redeemer in a way that is meaningful to the worshipers. Worship is for
God’s pleasure and our blessing.
We provide two different worship settings at Atlantic: Traditional and Contemporary.
- Traditional:
Uses acts of worship such as the Apostle’s Creed and the Psalter and songs from the United Methodist Hymnal and
the Faith We Sing supplemental book.
Worship music is provided by our pipe organ and piano. Musical witness is shared by our vocal choirs and bell choir.
Contemporary:
Uses a praise band, including acoustical guitar, bass guitar, and flute, along with one vocalist.
The contemporary service is divided between praise music, altar prayer ministry, testimonies and the preaching of the
Word.
The words to music and scripture
are projected for the worshippers to follow.
The Biblical texts and sermon is the same in all services. All preaching and teaching
is lifted from the Bible and is Christ-centered and relevant to our real-life setting and is socially and morally responsible
as the Word of God requires.
Drama is used in both our traditional and contemporary settings.
The Sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each
month in all worship settings. Our communion is open to all believers regardless of denomination.
If you miss even one service,
you are missing something special.
