Pastor Norm's Faith Statement:
I have to be one of the most fortunate people on earth. Every day I
get to do what I love. The God and Creator of the universe has spoken to us in His Word, the Holy Bible.
I get to help people discover Him in His Word. This has got to be the greatest job on earth.
May I tell you a story about how my love affair with the Word of God started? When
I was a student at the University of Delaware, one Friday night a man came to speak to a group of Christian students.
He told us that much of the Bible wasn’t true, and that he knew that because he was able to read the Bible in
the original language. I will never forget how vulnerable I felt that night. This man, from his high place
of learning had undercut my faith and everything that I had grown up to believe.
That night, I promised myself that I was going to learn how to read the Bible in it’s original language.
Never again was I going to be vulnerable because of my ignorance. I was not going to depend on any “person”
to tell me what the Bible said or didn’t say. Eternal truth was too crucial. I wanted to know the
truth!
So I began my life’s passion of studying the Greek of the
New Testament and the Hebrew of the Old Testament, but not just the languages but how those languages were used by God to
reveal
Himself and His eternal truth to His people.
I will say it again, "This has got to be the greatest job on earth." Thank you.
